“KAZIUKAS” is a largest annual folk arts and crafts fair in Vilnius. Event Programme

This year, Kaziukas Fair shall mention its 415th anniversary on 2-4 March. This fair shall be distinguished not only by the abundance of events and entertainment, but shall also be commemorated in a prooflike coin created by the artist Rytas Jonas Belevičius which shall become a symbol of this year Kaziukas fair.

The length of Kaziukas fair in Vilnius Old Town is about 17 kilometres.

In 1602, the Pope Clement VIII announced the Prince Kazimieras the Saint. In 1827, Vilnius traders received their privilege to organise a three-day St. Kazimieras fair. Kaziukas fair is called one of the biggest and most authentic fairs in the Baltic States.

Following a Mass at 12.30, award ceremony will be held for the participants of St. Casimir’s Statue and Text Competition. Mass will also be held at 8.00, 10.00, 17.30, and 19.00.
13.30 Student event “RESTART. About Sacredness” will take place at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. Prior registration required.

14.30-17.00 Programme for children and youth: “Exploration: The Case of St. Casimir”. Interactive education while travelling through the halls and corridors of the Cathedral, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, and the Church Heritage Museum. Prior registration required.

TOWN HALL SQUARE

13.00 – 17.00 Kaziukas Fair’s CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY TABLE dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the State. A 100-metre long table will become the central meeting place of the Kaziukas Fair. All guests of the Fair will be invited to sit down at the table and try dishes made using exclusively Lithuanian products.
Raseiniai District Cultural Centre’s music groups and performers Ariogala Ensemble “Šaltinėlis”, Folklore Ensemble “Degule”, bandoneon player Dainius Maslauskas, and Traditional Lithuanian Dance Ensemble “Raskila” will entertain guests.

15.00 Table hosts RASEINIŲ MAGDELĖ and VYTENIS will introduce the Delicious Palm Bouquet Record “RASEINIŲ PANA SU ŠILUVOS VERBA” (Maid from Raseiniai with Šiluva palm bouquet) and invite everyone to celebrate while enjoying tea and gingerbread around the bonfire.

ON 2-4 MARCH, EVERYONE IS INVITED TO THE EVENTS held in the Cathedral Square and the surrounding areas.

On 3-4 March, Vilnius Caritas and Vilnius Cathedral tents will be open. Social enterprises, the disabled people’s organisations and institutions, religious communities and congregations of Lithuania will present and sell their products. BIRDHOUSE CAPITAL and PALM BOUQUET MAKING WORKSHOPS will be held.

KAZIUKAS DESIGN ALLEY will be set up in the Cathedral Square.

DESIGN FAIR will take place at the beginning of the Maironio Street (near the Vilnius Academy of Arts where young artists will display their works, whereas in the square and courtyard of the Academy of Arts, art students will hold an exhibition/sale “DAILI KAZĖ”.

A FLEA MARKET will take place on the Maironio Street near the Tymo Market. All flea market sellers will be gathered and sell all sorts of old and antique items. There will be a presentation of collectors’ expositions.

National culinary heritage products will be introduced on the Gediminas Avenue from Vrublevskio St. to A. Goštauto, Odminių, K. Sirvydo Streets, Lukiškių, Town Hall, and Cathedral Squares and public gardens, as well as in Vrublevskio, Šventaragio, Maironio, Totorių, Pilies, and Didžioji Streets. Guests will also find pavilions housing folk artists and other producers, as well as open air restaurants. Different types of food will be available. Book publishers will sell their products.
