President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Egils Levits and all the people of Latvia on the 102nd anniversary of its independence wished continued growth and everlasting prosperity of the country.
According to the President, today Latvian people can be proud of a strong, prosperous and progressive state. Lithuania and Latvia are not only reliable partners in the European Union and allies in NATO, but also the closest neighbors, friends and committed companions.
“In the context of global challenges, maintaining good neighborhood, people-to-people contacts, cultural and economic ties is highly important. I welcome Latvia’s decision not to allow unsafe electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant. This is a unifying move in strengthening the national security of the Baltic States”, the President said in the message of congratulations.
The President expressed conviction that cooperation on continental and security matters would consolidate long-term relations between Lithuania and Latvia, making people stronger and more resilient in protecting the values that unite all Europeans.
