President Gitanas Nausėda met with a delegation from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Ukrainian soldiers receiving medical treatment in Lithuania.
According to the President, Lithuania was going to continue active support to the people of war-torn Ukraine. Every year, Lithuania receives 50 Ukrainian soldiers for medical treatment and rehabilitation, while Lithuania’s support to Ukraine amounted to 11 482 euros over the period of 2014–2018.
Following the example of Lithuania, Ukraine plans to set up a psychological rehabilitation center for people affected by the war.
The President also emphasized active cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine in the area of education and science including but not limited to exchange of schoolchildren who come to study to our schools and partnerships of universities.
Education councils of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast collaborate with Lithuania when selecting the orphans and children affected by the war who get an opportunity to learn in Lithuania.
Ukrainian institutions of higher education cooperate with Vytautas Magnus University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Mykolas Romeris University and other Lithuanian universities. The Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs established a Lithuanian center of law in 2018 and runs a double diploma study programme in cooperation with Vytautas Magnus University that allows for diplomas issued by the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs to be recognized in the EU.
