President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė will host French President Emmanuel Macron with his spouse Brigitte Macron who are coming for an official visit to Lithuania.
The French President will arrive in Vilnius on Monday, September 28, at 18:00 and will first meet with the President and the First Lady in the Presidential Palace. An official welcoming ceremony will be held in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace and the French President will sign the guest book.
After the tête-à-tête meeting behind the closed doors, defense, security, and foreign policy issues as well as bilateral and multilateral agenda will be discussed in an extended format with members of delegations. During the meeting, EU, NATO, and EU neighborhood policy issues, the situation in Belarus and relations with Russia will be discussed. The leaders should also touch upon the climate change and digital economy issues, the implementation of the Eastern Partnership policy, economic and cultural cooperation between Lithuania and France.
Later, at 20:00, the Presidents will hold a joint press conference. At 21:00, a solemn dinner at the invitation of President Gitanas Nausėda will be held at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in honor of the French President. Prominent public figures and members of the French community in Lithuania were invited to attend the dinner.
On Tuesday, September 29, at 15:30, President Nausėda and the French leader will meet with the French troops deployed to NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in the training regiment of the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonušas Radvila of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in Rukla. The President of France should also attend a solemn ceremony at the Antakalnis cemetery and later, meet with the Lithuanian community of academics and intellectuals. First Ladies Diana Nausėdienė and Brigitte Macron plan to visit the MO Museum.
On the occasion of the visit, a Lithuanian-French business forum will be held to discuss cooperation opportunities in the fields of information, financial technologies, renewable energy, sustainability, innovation, infrastructure development and cyber security. The forum will be attended by Lithuanian and French business leaders as well as representatives of business organizations.
This is the first visit of President Emmanuel Macron and his spouse to Lithuania.
