The President congratulated Georgia on independence day

President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated President Salome Zourabichvili of Georgia as the country celebrates 104 years of independence.

According to the President, Lithuania has always supported and will continue to support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as its aspirations for European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Gitanas Nausėda congratulated Georgia on taking an important step on the path of European integration by completing the EU membership questionnaire and handing it over to the European Commission.

“Lithuania consistently supports the EU Eastern Partnership programme. Today, Europe faces extreme security challenges. With Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine and the tense security situation in the Black Sea region, we know that solidarity and support from Eastern partners is critically important for Ukraine. I am confident that we will fully support the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.

On the occasion of the independence anniversary, President Gitanas Nausėda wished the people of Georgia continued success and long years of peace and prosperity to their country.
